morning all....I see a lot of threads not only in this forum but in others, regarding fairing mesh. Now, I purchased some of that gutter gaurd from Home Depot and some epoxy, but it doesn't look that easy to do.....any thoughts on how others have done this?

Also, does anyone know of a place to get a kit that is precut for a 2001 Kawasaki ZX-6R?

Thanks in advance for your responses.

I haven't heard of this idea. Could look good. Are you using it in the opening on the sides?

If you are, gutter guard is a PITA to keep looking good. I had some on the grille of my old car. I scrapped it for some polished aluminum APC mesh from Checker.

I know APC is major rice, but it worked great and was a ton easier to keep looking good.

I dont know of any precut stuff.
That would be nice though.

I looked at doing mine and I backed out
after seeing that it would be a bit more
work to make it look good than I thought.
Seeing how the fairing openings are not
just "flat" cut outs on the back side.

Ive seen bikes with it and it is sweet.
But, Ive never seen a 01 zx 6r with it.

I think I may have to start looking again
to see what I find.

I never thought of gutter guard screen.
It may need to be "treated" to keep from
rusting on you.

All I ever thought of was the mesh on the
cager's "fast & furious" row at the parts store.
And at $62 I was not going to try it.

Good luck and keep us posted with how it goes.

Hay, nice ride.
Id love to see some pics of the seat you got there.

Dont forget to post some here::devious

WOW
Alot cheaper than parts store.

I wonder what "Chrome like Plated" is?
(Silver paint?:laugh)
And they are right "Aluminum Mesh / Will Not Rust!"
So thats a good thing.

That makes it worth a try.
I, myself, would use a good, strong silicone so it will not make it
a "permanent" part of the bike.
If you use epoxy, it in itself will become a part of your
your fairing plastic forever.

Good find, Bro.:thumbup

everyone i know paints the stuff before they put it on.

i can't imagine it would be that hard. put a large side down, expoy, let set. then stretch the rest over how you want it. epoxy. hold in place till it sets :O

never done it though, so i'm sort just musing.

if you really wanted to get high tech, get some clay, and make an imprint of your hole, and then preform the mesh around that.

Here are some of the pictures....will post better ones when the dam rain stops. Enjoy.....didn't end up using the gutter gaurd from Home Depot....I actually purchased a silver mesh garbage can from Walmart and used that...the mesh was much tighter than the gutter gaurd stuff....I think it came out nicely......

That looks awesome! Nice way to make the bike truly yours. The fairing mesh isn't my style but I'm seriously digging the hugger. Great work!
