So yes, I got home and found that my rear tire was flipped the wrong way! I am dam out of luck. The front tire is facing the correct direction.

I can only return on Monday when they are open, there goes my Sunday drive! FFS They also scratched my rim....

Taking dry weather in consideration can you drive with the tire this way at all, will I damage it in anyway?

I just googled it, the internet says no. Sounds like they delaminate if they get up to higher temperatures. Granted, the posts are 3 years old which mean they are probably for the regular Q3 and not the Q3+, but still. Sorry hombre.

This type of stuff is why I do all work on the bike myself, and I change my own tires as well.

Thats not fun at all! I buy all my tires at the local Cycle Gear and have them mount them. They have never messed up but I always check before leaving. I'll check again when mounting the wheel. Twice this summer I left on a 4,000 mile or longer trip with about 10 miles on a new tire. Rims on my current bike have an arrow for rotation which makes it easier. If the scratch isn't deep I wouldn't worry about it.

My wife's comment when I complained about a scratch on my ZX6R - it's like you now it has scars!

Yes, I saw those posts on the Q3 but nothing on the Q3+. The Q3+ has had 80% changes since it's predecessor. The side wall I know is made from Carbon fiber.

I drove about 5km tops at slow speeds and intend to take the same path back to the shop tomorrow.

1) That being said, with low temp and slow drive back home did I risk damage to this tire?

The last thing a "weekend warrior" like me/us need is to think about your tires.

This type of stuff is why I do all work on the bike myself, and I change my own tires as well.
Amen to that.

I can't imagine 5km at surface street speeds did anything to them. You hardly wore off the mold release compound, let alone heated the carcass up.

if the answer is no, Just go ride it today if you want to ride. trackday junkies flip them often with little to no ill effects and I have seen plenty of bikes come in with the tires that have been backwards their entire life (years and thousands of miles)

While certainly the siping is the wrong direction, little else will matter

I've had the front flipped in the past and simply turned the wheel around (obviously as it's symmetrical it was possible) without issue.

I got a second front tyre fitted and they also kept it flipped, because they followed the tyre direction arrows on the tyre they were taking off and not those on the wheel! When that tyre was done for track use I explicitly pointed out the problem and the next one was fitted correctly

Now a rear sounds like a different deal. Clearly no way to flip the wheel, all power applied through the rear, decent amount of engine braking force, depending on your style.

For track use definitely not a good idea (IMHO), weekend warrior, ehh maybe you could get away with it for a weekend.

Sorry I'm late to this conversation (last response 13th October), hope you took it back to the shop and they either gave you a new tyre or at least flipped it around for you for free.

Ya, I took it back the Monday and did not do any riding other that left and returned to the shop with a total of 10 Km light riding.

They flipped it and that was it basically other than me quoting them out of the manual on torque specs but they were more clever than Kawasaki...anyway...first and last time...

Will hunt for Q3+ somewhere else next time. Exceptional tyre...
