Is this the timing chain or something else entirely?

Today on my ride, my engine suddenly stopped making power while cruising at about 40mph. It immediately started making a clanking sound, and like it was choking out. I was able to get it off the street, and then it cut off completely. It was in second gear for all of this, and the engine didn't lock up, and the engine oil is still at proper levels. It never overheated, or smoked, or anything like that. Any ideas on what it could be? I've heard timing chain, spark plugs, and clogged fuel lines. The timing chain seems the most likely, though, because I seriously doubt the plugs or fuel lines would create that sound.

Any advice? Thanks in advance!

Clanking sounds are overwhelmingly bad news, especially when you lose power. I would expect a broken rod, holed piston sort of event.

How many miles on the engine? Post pictures if you tear into her.
