Can Anyone Tell Me What Motorcycle This Is? (1950's)

My grandfather passed away today and every time we got together I always enjoyed listening to his stories. A few years back when I got my first bike, he gave me this picture and we talked about the good ol' days.

Unfortunately, I do not remember the year or make of his first bike. Can anyone provide me with that information? Would be kinda cool to see if I can get one or piece one together. There is no year on the photo. I think it was taken around 1952-1958.

Any help is appreciated.

Thank you.

The tank badge looks like it says BSA. It's clearly a single cylinder bike, with a rigid frame, drum brakes at both ends. I don't know the model designations for BSA (Birmingham Small Arms) models, unfortunately.

Should get you going in the right direction though. It's British.
Design looks similar to these

Going off what others said, it looks like a bsa c10

I think you are correct with it being a BSA C10 250cc. The headlight, exhuast pipe, and seat all point to that direction.

Thank you to all who posted. I asked my grandma tonight and she believed he bought it when the bought the house in 1956. Definitely going to save this info and set up some alerts to find one out there. Thanks again
I believe that is a mid-1950's BSA B31. 350cc single.
After looking at it in more detail online, this may be correct. They look similar. but the front wheel casing on the C10L looks different from this his. They have the same seat though....

At least you guys pointed me in the right direction. I really appreciate this
