So I just installed a steering damper on my 22. While playing with it I noticed when a full strength I get some kind of bubble popping sound (not a lot) like air or vacuum bubbles. When I removed it and ran it in and out by hand I didn't get the same results. Steering still feels silky smooth. Is this normal? Background I bought this one used and I have no idea how old it is.

The Ohlins design works by controlling the flow of oil through the damper…… there is a liquid being passed through a valve assembly in there. It’s not silent.

If you’re unsure about it working correctly, send it to Ohlins for inspection/rebuild. That’s the only way you will get a high confidence answer.

Purchased used and unsure of age or abuse and use.............. rebuild it for sure
either yourself with the right oil and orings or send it off.......
cost is exactly the same, they only charge for the parts, atleast that is all the used to charge for on their products regardless of unit or age---you will have some shipping charges......

it is likely old fluid and low on fluid imo....
