Brake rebuild kit.

I'm in the process of rebuilding my '06 ZX6R, and I'd like to have a brake rebuild kit on hand. I used an alcohol based cleaner, and kerosene to clean the gunk, and I was told that the alcohol eats the seals. Are the Tokico brakes all the same, or do I need a specific kit?

Stick with OEM....many of us on the forum have done it. They are NOT universal

Edit....didn't realize you plan to rebuild the calipers? Either way...stick with OEM, or buy a whole caliper as a set to bolt on.
I'm getting ready to rebuild my calipers as well. How did yours go? Anything you learned?
I believe the rebuild kits are pricey.

Do yourself a favor and buy a set of 07-12 Nissin calipers off eBay. They generally sell pretty cheap and are superior to the Tokico ones you have now. Not to mention, its a direct swap!

"Pricey"? :eh:
Runs about $50 all in (For MC rebuild)......not sure where you get a 07-12 swop for cheaper? :O

In MY opinion/experience the following is enough...
1) Flush your brake fluid
2) Take apart your calipers to clean them
3) Rebuild MC ($50)
4) New brake fluid

Lever should be tight....

I assumed he was refering to a caliper rebuild, not an MC rebuild.

But even with the MC, $55 for the rebuild kit or around $80 for an 07+ unit. Thats $30 more well spent if you ask me :O

My bad...your right he was referring to Calipers lol. I stand corrected :hail:
