Having just had the first proper ride out on my J1 I am horrified at how spongy the front brakes are! I didn't expect the brake level to trap my fingers against the bar once things got 'spirited'! I have already changed the pads and brake fluid and bled them everyway I know how, 50 times after I picked the bike up but this doesn't se em to have made any difference.

Therefore, I have ordered a MC seal kit and caliper seal kit. Just not sure what is the best option in regards braided hoses, standard or race? Not too bothered about difference in cost just want good effective brakes.

Any experience or advice would be welcomed.

i second the galfer braided lines. those things should be standard on our bikes, it made a night and day difference in braking (it is very confidence inspiring).

Thanks guys. I'll check those out. Been looking at goodridge or HEL.

What about set up, standard 3 lines or race 2 lines?

I would suggest the 2 line race setup. That way there are less places for air bubbles to get trapped. That third piece that bows over the wheel is an inverted U trap >> n, which can be a real sumbitch to bleed out.

I have Core. Galfer, HEL, Goodrich, Spiegler, Fren Tubo. Take your pick.

Thanks for the info.

I've got new carbon ceramic gold Fren pads which on my ZZR 1400 were excellent. Got the seal kits for MC and caliper so will get a set of 2 line braided hoses sorted then hopefully should be sorted.

I'll keep you posted when I get time to do it.
