I dropped my 96 zx6r on the left side the other day and now it wont run at all. At first I thought that I just killed the battery but when I jumped it today it would run but as soon as I took it off the jump vehicle it would die. I'm really lost as to what could be wrong. Any suggestion before I take it to the shop?

How hard did you drop it? You may have damaged/ shorted the alternator. Is the cover damaged/ cracked.

Also check your battery post connections. Clean them and make sure they are tight and are making good contact. It may have loosened when the bike fell. Usually just a drop won't damage the alternator so start with the battery.

I wasn't moving when the bike fell. Im actually a little embarrassed by it. But yes the cover is cracked.

The stator is probably coming into contact with the rotor inside the cover & grounding out shorting/ draining your battery or the windings broken inside. Take the cover off and inspect it. You may have to replace your stator along with the cover.
