How about the Silkolene 4T Racing Oil...have you tried it. I have been using this when had my oil change at 3,000km and runs smoothly, shifting gears are very smooth.

Any other feedback (negative or positive) about this Oil???? Thank you....
Steve, I use the Kawa 10W-40 mineral oil and I change it regularly. However I do like the thought of extra engine protection that a synthetic like Amsoil provides. However in my old bike, a 2007 zx-6 with 5000 miles on it with no oil leaks (I am aware of the issues with this bike) started to leak oil just 500 miles after switching to Amsoil. Then my friends bike started developing a severe rattle in the valve train on his Gixxer just 1500 miles on Amsoil. What is happening here? Now I am afraid to touch the stuff.
The type of oil you use will NOT cause an oil leak ! That would have been coincidence but the rattle in the valve train could have been caused by the oil but highly doubt it could have also been caused by a missed shift too ! Amsoil also warranties the use of there oil http://www.amsoil.com/warranty.aspx
Rotella Synthetic from SuperWalmart only. With the money I save. I buy a gallon of rotella conventional as well. I drain the oil. throw in the conventional along with 1/3 quart of automatic transmission fliud (acts as a detergent) run around the block a couple times till hot. Then drain and fill w/ Rotella Syn. My oil looks like honey for weeks and my engine stays squeaky clean!
Does this really work or just gonna get my stuff messed up?? Fr
I just bought a 2000 ZX-6R last week. It came with Mobil 1 synthetic - Is this not a good oil?
It’s fine. Oil is 100% subjective and personal preference. People will use what they use and swear by it and call everything else bad

just use the correct weight that’s clutch friendly change it when you should and your fine.

I personally use bellray 10/40 thumper full Syn because I was sponsored and have a basement full. If I had to buy oil I’d run rotella t4.
My Harley I use Harley syn3 I woudnt run aimsoil in my lawnmower. Well I may in my lawnmower if someone gave it to me. But only aimsoil and aimsoil cheerleaders swear it’s the best. It ant

I've run lots of different oils. Think there are some differences but not much. Have noticed slight differences in valve train rattle and shifting between them but nothing significant. Some seem to make it a bit longer before the valve train rattle picks up but again that is subjective and have never had an engine failure because of oil. Probably the most important thing is to change regularly and use a good filter.

Had a BMW F800GT that I bought with 4,700 miles on it. Had the dealer do all the maintenance as I bought a 3 year unlimited mileage service plan for $1,500 when I bought the bike. I would take it in every 6,000 miles and they would change the oil and filter a whatever else was called for. It rattled and was hot but never a problem, put 26,000 miles on it in 2 years. Think the oil was a synthetic blend but I didn't worry about it. Just rode the bike. It was a good very functional bike and we had some great times together but I was not in love with it. If I had gotten up some morning and it was gone would not have bothered me a bit. When the oil was new it was very difficult to get into neutral with the engine running and hot. Toward the end of the cycle it was much easier. Think it was the stiction between the clutch plates got less as the oil aged. Only when the bike was out of factory warranty dd the dealership want to look into the clutch - told them sorry but no. LOL that was just before it had a bearing failure in the rear hub which I fixed and then traded it. Tech did spend extra time carefully adjusting the clutch and it was not bad. So use good oil and change it regularly and don't worry about it.

And here I am buying Motul 7100 for $18 more for 4 quarts, and they're both ester based full synthetics 🙄

I'll have to try that stuff out next.

Maxima is good stuff. It’s what we use in everything at the dealer. They give good drum prices to

The only thing I have ever noticed by oil is in my Harley I tried aimsoil in all three holes. I wasn’t gone five minute and I swear I thought I forget to fill the damn primary. Wouldn't shift for shit and was clanky as hell. Went back drained it and went back to syn3. I have ran redline for the trans and primary and it seems ok. Or least it dint sound worse lol. But not worth the extra.

Someone has to keep the oil barrons fat and rich.............

The maxima pro plus is better than Motul 7100 by a big margin

What makes it better? Better synthetics, additives..??

Several years of using it in race bikes, street bikes of all sorts ..............and many/most of the people immediately notice better shifting
many also said their engine sounded better and quieter
But the real kicker over the top for me......
I have some iron butt riders who have pushed it out to 15,000 miles use and abuse and have a couple hundred thousand miles on their bikes with it and no issues........
and several racers who were blowing up engines finally made the switch from motul 5100...7100....300V and bam- they have not blown up an engine since

coincidence or proof??????????????

incidently I have sent in a couple oil samples, one of them from the iron butt lady after just a tick over 15k on it.it came back as she could have ridden it further yada yada yada---but I do believe every sample ever sent says the same bullshit - your oil is fine, run it longer and send in another sample-

she burned though more than a quart the last time it went that long..... I told her she needs to check oil level every 5000 miles if she is pushing it that far and would send a liter with her.............

another was from a 1500 miles racebike/trackday bike.......same feedback as the 15k oil

I ran Motul on my last long trip and was disappointed in it. Too much "valve train rattle" 2/3 of the way thru.

Well, it has enough of my attention to win my money the next time I do an oil change.

I have heard that same complaint....... I hear that with the amsoil gang of pushers too..........

And aimsoil is one of the only oils I have ever used where I could tell something wasn’t right in my Harley. And I have heard that from alot of Harley guys

But back when I was younger the old man was a huge bellray guy. He was a flat track world national champion several times. But he said they would have blown motor. Especially top end damage on those and the bellray guy came to him and and offered a sponsorship and that was the end of the motor issues. And when I was a teenager working in the shop it was obvious when you tore into a motor that wasn’t using bellray. Especially top end stuff. I’m sure a lot of oils today have caught up. But back then I assume bellray was way ahead of the curve. I personally don’t like changing oils from what I have been previously using. Idk why just feels odd. So when I buy something new. I use the same thing through out it’s life.

really wish I wouldn’t of drunk the kool aid about the “special”. Kubota oil. That shit cost me 800$ in oil every service for a few years. Talked to several old farmers who says nappa makes a comparable oil and about a year ago kabota went up another 60$ a jug and I said fuk this went to nappa and tried that and I swear the clutch actually grabs better. And that was the main thing they said was any other oil would slip the clutch. And it cost less than 1/2 that. And 1/2 adds up when it’s over 800 dollars.

This. Oils are perhaps the most religious topic possible on a bike forum. As long as it makes the rating and grade specified by the OEM it will be fine. If you're worried about your oil the best thing you can do is to change it.

That's as good a reason as any. I run Rotella T6 in everything because I buy it by the 5gal pail for my truck and the price is fairly reasonable in that size for a full synth oil. Clutch friendly, everything shifts fine with it and I always have it on the shelf.

Like the rest it works fine, but isn't anything special. Their gear oils and ATF do work well and I use them, but I don't think they are magic or anything.
