Are any motorcycles speed limited in the US?

Is it still a gentleman’s agreement? 187?

I expect all of the 1000cc sport bikes have limiters programmed in. Along with the lower gear torque limits that is usually one of the things removed when an ECU is flashed.

They prob all are lol. Like Matt said that’s one of the things they remove on flash and tunes. I know my street glide was limited to 109 when it was stock. It would just sit right there and act like was rev limit but wasn’t even close. After my mods and tune she hits a mind blowing speed if 132 lol.
And my new Silverado was limited to 99 stock. I hate that shit but they say the drivelines on them is why and will just blow apart much faster. Idk. I changed all that crap when I did the automatic lifter delete. And 2 piece driveline.
I think I read the V4 Panigale broke the agreement in the US, but can't find it now.
One of my brothers in the PNW listed a news report of a BMW sedan that a 19 YO kid was clocked at something like 176, and then bragged to the cops that he saw 187 indicated.....

Well If you’re going down for 176. You might as well get bragging rights for what you actually did. I guess

What year? My 2011 Duramax 2500 stops at an indicated 162km/h, which is almost exactly the same as your 99mph. Maybe GM just uses the same number no matter what the vehicle actually is...

There is no cure for stupid, but this guy will probably meet Darwin soon enough and take those genes out of the pool.

I'm pretty sure the programmed speed limits are based on the speed rating of the tires on the vehicle.

Lots of times this is the case

My 2017 Ram 1 ton crew cab long bed 4x4 will run right into the rev limiter in top gear (manual transmission) and that is 142mph..........

the tires are only rated for 108 I believe, but they are 10 ply so who cares........ ;)

My Mustang despite coming with 168mph tires was speed limited to 114mph, because the lower tier mustangs had tires only rated for that (S rated I think on the base models)
So like the government they punished everyone for the few..........

Got rid of that stupidity real quick
fyi it will not go 168 in the length of time I was willing to hold it to the floor....... but 155+ is doable
My Volt would go to 101 and then back down to 100 and put a notice up that says speed limited to 100 - or something like that. My Bolt will do a whopping 93 LOL.

My cousin one told me he was in his father's Fiat 600 and was racing another Fiat 600. They were the only ones who knew a race was going on.

My 16 and my 18 both run out at the 99 mark. Ones a 1500 and other is a 2500. I have heard the Sri lines like to explode at around 115-120 lol.

It stops indicating after 299 kph
