Im gonna wipe my tank down with windex to clean it from dust n oil, but do you have any tips on applying the pad? Like ways to make it even and not crooked etc...
The tank pad's I had (mostly cheapo Pro-Grips) can be removed immediately without any adverse effects. I put mine on and removed it 6 times before it was absolutely perfect. I started at the tank since the pad is curved for the tank and it fell right into place.
I just wiped mine down. Although they say not to do this, I waxed the finish first and let it sit for a day then put it on. I don't want adhesive on straight clear coat. If it falls off (which none of my bikes had), then it was cheaper than fucking up the paint.
Scotch tape on the top can help with placement. Ever seen someone lay down a vinyl decal or stencil for painting? ... similar to that. Personally I just eye ball that shit. Those tank protectors work to a point. Some times I feel like I'd have to wrap the whole tank for it to actually be effective. Good luck. Cheers!
Don't use windex, it can also create a film that doesn't allow for proper adhesion. Use an alcohol prep pad
