Could someone smarter than me just explain the difference (if in fact there's any) between "USA bikes" VS the bikes from, say, Canada or Europe?

I keep seeing people claiming that this might be an issue with USA production bikes only and other folks stating that - given the bike was made Euro 5 compliant - they are one and the same and therefore geography means nothing.

Thoughts? 🤔

EMISSIONS!!!!!!!!

THE EPA IS THE ENEMY OF ALL COMBUSTION ENGINES!!!!!!!!!

Called the dealer a few min ago. They stated a stop sales from kawasaki on the zx6r has been communicated. They have no other info on the issue nor any recall. No knowledge on the DNR letter either.
Yeah my dealership HAD NO IDEA 🙉 on my 24 zx6r. UNTIL I CALLED THEM. But they said they will take care of me once they know what the issues are. I bet they will..... take kawasaki's money and say it's fixed it. This will be an issue and a problem for people for years to come. Be smart with it guys ✌

I'd wait for definitive information on that.

Funny situation today. I went for my 600 mile (680 now) mandatory service and the dealer service guy suggested me to wait for the recall to happen, so oil change would be free… I mean, makes sense, but, when I this going to happen anyways? So far there’s nothing official.
I ended up not requesting the service… saves some bucks I guess…. thought I could just use the bike as is a little longer (I don’t ride it that much, maybe keep it just in the city) but I feel like it was not the best move… should I pursue the first service? Or wait for the recall? What would you guys do? Are you guys not riding yours at all? Eff that!

Ride at your own peril I guess........

I would of for sure had changed the oil filter before now though.......... Not because the oil is broken down from the additives package but because of the amount of machining material that is in the engine from the building and machining of the parts.
I ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWYAS make the first oil change on any fresh engine happen within the first 25 miles, then do another around 300 miles and when dissecting the filters there is always glittery yuk and when letting the oil sit overnight in the pan then draining it down to a shot glass full you can see all the glitter in the pan!

I bet. That’s what I had in mind too. I’m thinking on either going back there for service or doing it myself just to preserve the engine - but if I do it myself it wouldn’t count for warranty schedule.

Just ride the bike. No recall letters have been sent out yet and that no one knows for sure how long it can take. Around 17,000 bikes are being recall but out of those only 1% are actually effective with the issue. If by a small chance something does happen to your bike Kawasaki will still fix it under the warranty they can't denied it and they can't enforce you not to ride the bike.

nowhere are you required to go to the dealer to keep your warranty intact.

but it is easier on you to "prove" proper service intervals when the dealer has the record too.

but you certainly an do your own oil change, double triple check the steering head bearings and adjust the drivechain and cables etc and just keep some written records and a receipt of the oil/filter purchased for ease in case you need them for warranty........

Recall letters have been sent out my buddy got one it's a no sell no ride and can't trade it in recall done spent many hrs trying to find out what to do and all they can say is waiting on kawasaki

IF what I've been reading is true, it doesn't seem like an easy fix, as they'll have to either replace entire engines (unlikely, as there's just too many bikes) OR open the engines up to change the faulty part - that will take forever.

I'm really curious to see how this develops and I hope Kawi does the right thing here, whatever the issue might be...
Faulty part is the #5 crankshaft bushing/bearing being over torque. They would have to change crankshaft and bearings

I put a deposit down on a Zx6r abs the day before the stop-sale and wasn’t able to pick it up the next day sadly. Does anyone have an idea on when I can hope to get the bike? Or how long these things generally take? The dealer won’t tell me anything. I know its a first world problem and I’m just being impatient but I’ve been saving up for a long time lol

Does it show up in Kawasaki official website? The searches for my VIN there come back empty. Wondering if his bike VIN shows there.

TBH, I'd buy something else. There are many cool options out there. You're buying something new that is already defective. If I had known, I'd have gone to the R9 or even s1000 used.

If you want to ride in 2025 I would get your deposit back and buy something else. If you are absolutely dead set on a brand new ZX6R then expect a long, slow solution to the problem and plan accordingly.

Once the recall is done it won't be defective and will have full warranty, but I agree he should look elsewhere if time is an issue. This isn't like it is a new generation bike that is proving to have ongoing problems, it is a proven platform that they screwed up assembly on a batch.

Hi Guys - i just bought this bike, paid cash yesterday and was going to pick up today and they wont release it. So just waiting for it fully paid. sucks but rather not lose engine power on a drive. Hopefully this fix is fast... the bike is such a big seller for them that it has to be priority... too much money at stake and legal issues.
I feel you, but look on the bright side, you haven't loaded it with mods. I got my 2025 ZX-6R on March 3 this year. I've since then but frame sliders, levers, exhaust, alarms, and a few other touch-ups. I've done my own break-in oil change last month (I've only currently got 1200 miles on it), adjusted my chain and put sensors on my tire valves. Purchased a cover, chain and lock, ramps, wheel chock and ratchet straps to transport it on my truck... all told about $4,000.00 in stuff. All sitting in my garage till my dealership calls me to bring it in to take 4-8 months to make the recall 20-hour repair. WTF!!!!

This is a photo after about a month of owning it.
