Hi. I am going to buy a 2023 Ninja ZX-6R in blue, non-ABS in 2 weeks! The dealer has already put on a yoshimura exhaust, frame sliders, and fender eliminator kit. He is saying with tax and fees, out the door is $15,219. The msrp is $10,699... seems like a big jump. Just looking for an opinion. Thanks!

It does seem high, but lacking information on whether that’s the out the door price tax, title, warranty, service contract it’s difficult to say with certainty

These are things I would do to it anyway. I was looking forward to the 'hands on' though. And I think that is with everything. I am financing it. 3300 down. In Alabama.
My exhaust cost 500, I put it on myself

Frame sliders I don't have experience doing, but my local shop would install for around 80. So that's like 200 at most

Fender Elim was 100, I did it myself.

My OTD on a 2021 ABS was like 11.5, or 12. With mods (screen, fender Elim, 2bros, servo buddy) it is at around 13, all the mods cost less than a grand.

A shop that had a 21 ABS with a exhuast, sliders and Elim was quoted a shy few north of 13 OTD.

I'd ask for a price breakdown, 5k for less than a grand of parts makes it nearly 4k for setup, taxes, tags etc which can be a lot, the MSRP isn't much different from my 21, but taxes vary and tag price can vary too.

(And then its work that likely was done during setup. So it's not like they spent lots of extra time setting it up, exhuast takes like 20 minutes)

Thank you so much. You've been a great help!
If anything call around, see if anyone has one and see what their OTD price is. Then compare, and see how much those addons do for the price, it was much cheaper to go stock OTD than have anything done to it, but I called about 6 or 7 different places to find a blue one too
Jeez. We sell out the door 12.5. When we have them.
You can usually expect 1k delivery and whatever they charge doc fee. Plus your tax and registration and those extras plus labor. I missed the extras part at first so yea I’d say that sounds right. Yosh isn’t cheap and they obviously bypassed the servo for the chancel engine light so that’s 50-60 bucks and there labor

I’m sure they will give you a break down of all the cost. It’s that 1k shipping freight deliver or whatever they call it cost is what stuns people. And it’s a legit charge. Dealers depending how we buy don’t really make anything off new bike sells. It’s the service and parts where we make money to keep the lights on.
The only real scam can be done is the BS documents fee. We don’t have a document fee but I have seen dealerships charge 800-1000 and that’s just blatantly ripping you off. But then again if you finance and have bad or questionable credit it is a bit of a hassle contacting banks and getting you approved at the best rate

tell ya a secrete tho. We deal with a local credit union and also freedom road financing as an example Both places pay us 900$ for every ten thousand we can get financed through them. Some other places more or less just using those for example So typically if you are paying cash at dealerships these days it will actually cost you a little more than financing. Because most places like us use that financing bonus to give you the “deal”. It just allowed a 1k negotiation room when dealing with customer. Sometimes we keep it sometimes we knock it off the price to help the customer. Just depends. So always try and negotiate a little if financing cause they all have that bonus to play with.

Good info on the financing, will probably get better as interest rates climb.

When I was shopping Chevy Bolts 2 years ago ran across a couple of places that demanded a trade and financing. Would up going to Donohoo Chevrolet in Fort Payne where it was a straight deal.

I always ask for the out the door price. Agree with @Scumbag on doc fees but no taxes on doc fee so if they come off the price and up on the doc fee I don't care.

In general I like to buy a bike bone stock and then do what I want to, later to sell or trace the bike it can be put back stock.

My experiences buying bikes out of state (GA and SD) is the state taxes are waved if the bike is being taken out of state. When the bike is registered they will be collected. I'm always looking for a good deal but most important is a good dealership. I will pay more for a quality dealership but don't like to feel taken advantage of.

How are they handling your warranty after installing the slip on? I know kawi is terrible to deal with on warranty stuff I have had them kick back warranty claims just for slip ons and we have to fight them. and so make sure you keep up with the documentation that the dealership installed those parts.
And congrats on the new bike. . Those prices don’t sound bad.

Good price. I paid the same here in Los Angeles, w/o the accessories.
I got my 23 this past October for around 15 or 16. I regret not searching around because I am not a fan of the aesthetics, but the machine. The dealer rep said they couldn’t take off the add-ons which was bs since they weren’t installed. Luckily I have a 650 and 636 so I wont need another bike EVER.
They tacked on grip pads that I can’t even use since I installed better ones. I also got the akra exhaust, frame sliders and engine guard kit.
I assumed things were already installed when i finally gave in, but had to wait almost 3 months.

I’m having a hard time following. So they sold you a bike with a bunch of extras that wasn’t ever installed? And refused to just sell you the bike without the extras?
That's what it sounds like 👀

Real talk.
They had me on expired tags for a month too so I reported them to the state in which they investigated everything in the sale and found discrepancies.
