To begin with, I purchased the bike (2013 model Kawasaki Ninja ZX6R 636 ABS Green, VIN: JKBZXJF18DA00052) from a private seller in Sep 2014. Since then, I’ve been putting the bike with a black cover on top, on my condo’s parking spot in P3 (at Cityplace Toronto) I was not intending to ride it until next season; therefore I only registered the title at MTO without putting a plate or insurance on it. I have also another bike that I’m currently riding and was going to sell (a Ninja 300 parked on P1 level).
On Monday Oct 20, in the morning, when I was going to drive my car to work at around 9:00am, I found the ZX6R parked behind my car was completely gone! Even the bike cover and a black bike stand, which was sitting beside my bike with Kawasaki stickers on.
I instantly told the concierge and filed a police report. I demanded for the video tape from the building management, and was told that the theft happened during midnight on Sunday, Oct 19. At the same time, I found out there was another gentleman and his girlfriend in my building who also lost their Yamaha R6 on that night. There were some footprints on my parking because of the dirt on my parking spot. I informed the Toronto Police Communications that my parking will be washed on Thursday Oct 23rd so the evidence will not be present anymore, but they said they will not be going to take pictures on those. So I took some.
About two months ago, I’ve noticed some strange things; actually it’s been about 5 times since I noticed one or two full or half-emptied Kirkland branded water bottles putting on my parking spot either on the ground, or on top of the concrete wall. I usually throw them away but on the next day or several days after, they appeared again. I did not take it seriously but until today, I found out there was the exact same branded bottle been putting on my Ninja 300 on P1. I think it might or could be some kind of marks by the thieves.
It was rather unfortunate that my new bike didn’t have insurance or a GPS tracker device. Otherwise my loss would be possibly kept at minimum. Now, Police is my only hope to get my beloved new bike back. I was told by the Toronto Police Communications (when I made more than 6 calls to them) that the video tape I requested were picked up by Toronto Police at around 11pm on Monday, Oct 20, and it’s been almost a week past. On thursday, 14 division constable officer who handles my case called me, told me that he would be on vacation through the week and would follow up with me on next thursday. I asked if the case could be transfered or assigned to someone else, but he said basically there're 20 motorcycles stolen in my area so they have people working on it.
I just hope, if anyone have any information regarding the stolen bikes could let me know on this forum. And for safty reason I already moved my Ninja 300 to a secured location.
