I just bought a 2007 zx600 but I'm stumped as to what's the difference between the zx600p and zx600r or are they the same thing is just the owners manule that says p?

Same thing. Model number just differs from the actual "zx6r" that we know it as.

Should be zx600p or zx600p7f or something like that for the actual model name.
