07 Ninjette resurrected

The 07 Ninja 250R I bought little over a year ago is finally running. Used 3 engines to make one. Was stumped for a while with the carbs. With stock jets & needle settings in the carbs, the bike would barely start & when it finally warmed up, could get it to rev up but it ran poorly. Thought I had missed something on the rebuild. Thought & cogitated on it for a while, then decided to buy main & pilot jets one size up, add a couple washers to the needles & BINGO, it runs like a champ. Rode it around the n'hood & it runs out great. Started sanding & using scratch putty to clean up the upper fairing & will hopefully paint it Tuesday when it warms up. Bought a Color-Rite 3-part kit to match the OEM paint, hopefully it makes the blue fairing I bought a close match to the other pieces of plastics. Wonder if I might keep this little gem, 65 MPG is possible on this bike. Or will have it for sale in a couple weeks after riding it for a while. :tounge2:

Thats rad man. I want a 300 so bad,but my chick is lame and wont throw a leg over. I mean seriously she wants to be a back pack.
A 250 would surely teach maintaining momentum, not to mention the much lower operating costs.

And you get to wring the thing's neck, EVERY ride. :)

I rode the wife's little Ninja for one short ride at the Dragon Trip last year. The trick is definitely keeping it in the right gear and rpm's, otherwise you'll dog it out and lose speed. But yeah, just wring it's neck and throw it around. You can't beat the bang for buck fun factor of these little things.
I paid $300 for the bike, but it had the roached engine & no upper fairing. Got a lot of hours in the engine mainly because after rebuilding with the 3, installed in frame, had transmission issues & it had to come back out & installed another trans. Then spent some time on the extra lean carbs issue thinking I had missed something on the rebuild. So, if you don't count my time, I have about $700 - $750 in it total. So guess it was a labor of love to keep this bike from the scrap heap. I'll ride it aound town & maybe hit the N. GA twisties a couple times with it.
It seems to run better than most I've ridden since it has a richer mixture. I may even get the next set up of mains to see if it improves any more. Would also like to see if I can find a hp set of headers/mufflers.
Anyone got sources for these?
After I get the upper painted, I'll post a couple pics the baby ninja.
