I know this question ranks right up there with what oil to use but i have searched the forum for a few days and haven't found a what i am looking for. I have the common problem of the front brake going soft after a day or two of not not riding. i did the rebuild and the results are the same. There are a few more tricks i picked up while searching i'm going to try but i think its time for a new Mc. so i have read that an 07 or an 09 mc will work on the 06 but haven't been able to find out if i need the calipers and rotors too or i only need the Mc. i have also read there are a few options like an r6 or an r1 but unsure of the years. So after that long winded intro what i would like to know is what will fit and what do i need. it seems like all mc are fairly pricey so i would like a few options so i can research it and find one that suits me. i don't do any track days and i really don't ride it to hard. Thanks.

I still have to take the calipers off and hang them but im pretty sure i got all the air out. i'm going to try one more time and see if i messed something up. which is very well likely. another thing that kills me is i've never had trouble with the back but while i was waiting to rebuild the front i lost the back pressure too. that's usually my luck.

Gotta ask the obvious question....... Have you already replaced the lines, and copper washers?

As stated the rebuild has been the cure typically, but many do simply buy a new or different model year master cylinder

05/06 has 14mm piston size in the master which is very small for the calipers installed, but is functional when working as designed

you are dealing with 14 year everything............
could be time to rebuild the calipers, replacing all the o-rings and truly clenaing the calipers inside and out

Here are a couple pictures of one of the 06's with about 10k on it I did............. same issues and internally it was terrible

I had a similar problem on my 07. After about 3 pumps of good braking my brakes would go soft. I could roll it forward or backwards to get it hard again (lol) then the same thing. Turns out my rotors were warped, well one rotor. You couldn't tell by looking at them but an experienced mechanic told me and I changed them out, now I brake like new. Just my 2cents.
