05 636 "ticking" noise

Hey all,

I recently swapped out my stock exhaust for the JTI S4 which came with a plate to put on the top of the servo to keep the FI light from coming on. However, I just took my bike out today for a quick ride (about 30 minutes) and when I got back I noticed a ticking noise coming from under the drivers seat. I figure it's the servo and also think it shouldn't be doing that either. Any help in the matter would be much appreciated!

I'll have to get one tomorrow as the bike is tucked away right now and it's almost 11pm here.

Probably the servo stripping gears, or otherwise freaking out.

To be sure pull the seat and see if it does it in an obvious way.

That little plate/bar thing is only a temporary solution. Eventually it will fail. When/if the servo fails you can fool the ECU fairly easily with relatively easily sourced materials, or do as I did and shoot laggy a pm.

Gotcha. The servo should only click on start-up or 13k+ rpms. If the ticking follows your rpms it's more than likely the cct needing reset, it's "in between" clicks or damaged.
Here is the link to the video:

Ticking Noise

Don't have the time today to pull the seat off and dig into it. I have a lot of schoolwork to get done for finals week.
Now when I got back from my ride yesterday, it didn't stop ticking like it did in the video.
That's the little motor that used to run the flaps in your factory exhaust. Ignore it. Mine does the same thing with my yoshimura exhaust. It runs like that because it's not connected to anything anymore. It won't hurt anything.
Your "Plate" that came with your aftermarket exhaust came undone. Pull your seat off and I would be willing to bet that piece that "Tricks" the servo motor is laying there lose.

Re-tighten it, maybe with some blue loctite
