He is trying to fix it up... When he starts it, it runs for 8.3 seconds and shuts off. This happens everytime around 7-8 seconds it shuts off. It sounds like he shut it off himself, no sputtering or anything.. Any ideas why?

i have a 99 zx6r. the bike runs when its going. occasionally when stopped, ill pull in the clutch lever to start going and the bike will shut off. any ideas as to why this is happening? i had a jet kit installed prior and i upgraded the pipe to a performace pipe. ive also had the carbs clean.
