exhaust wrap

I am going to wrap my exhaust soon, but the mid pipe has a heat shield on it, so should I take it off somehow (it's welded or rivited on) and wrap just the pipe, or wrap the exhaust and heat shield together? P.Sz I would like to get aftermarket headers and a mid pipe that will increase the...
