RIP LutzRR: Pearce Lutz OMRRA #105

It is with a heavy heart that I have to announce the passing of @LutzRR, Pearce Lutz OMRRA expert #105(formerly novice #722). He was a fellow forum member, racer, and friend. He succumbed to his injuries yesterday after being critically injured this past weekend in a 600 SS race at Ridge Motorsports Park in Shelton, WA for our round with WMRRA and WMRC. It still doesn't seem real to me after wishing each other luck minutes before our races. He was only 24 years old. I just wanted everyone to know what a good guy and fierce competitor Pearce was. He was a Paramedic, recently got engaged, and had a bright future ahead of him. He had an epic 2018 Novice season and took home the Novice Championship. This was his first season as an expert, and he was striving for bigger and better championships, and I have no doubt he would've been battling it out for those soon enough. Please keep Pearce and his loved ones in your thoughts. He really was a good human being, and gone way too soon. Ride in Peace buddy. We will miss you.

Here is a highlight video he made of his 2018 highlights.

If any of you would like to help out, here is a link to his Facebook fundraiser. Anything is greatly appreciated no matter how big or small. Thank you. https://m.facebook.com/donate/103891...5854204243649/

Wow, really sorry to hear man! Definitely gone too soon, and I feel really bad for his family and fiancee. Was it an odd crash or a collision with someone else? I've never heard of any serious incidents happening at the Ridge. A friend told me that it's pretty open and nothing really to hit if you crash or go off the track.

It was a single bike crash that occurred just before T13. Between T12 and T13 is a short back straight heading toward a sharp downhill left turn. T13 collects a lot of bikes as it is narrow and has a short, heavy braking zone. I only heard that it happened at the beginning of the brake zone when someone grenaded the brakes in front of Pearce, and he was already bar to bar with other racers and he grabbed too much front brake to avoid colliding, which sent him over the bars at I can only assume near 90-100mph. I can also only assume that He just landed in the worst way possible because I don't think he hit anything. He had to be life flighted off the track. This was an extremely bizarre day even leading up to his crash. The first 3 races prior to his were red flagged due to some significant crashes. And just about the same time Pearce went down, life flight was already en route to the Ridge MX track to pick up a MX rider. It had to then get to the hospital and double back for Pearce.

i did not know young Pearce, but I grieve for his loved ones. Too damn young to leave this world. It's a real shame that 'one of the good ones' met such an untimely end. May he R.I.P.

Even by your account, I agree with what SBK said, T13 it is a odd place to go down. And yet this event should remind us, the critical nature of proper bike maintenance; for ones own sake as well as for others that we ride/race with. I should add that I really like the Ridge Motorsports Park, I rather enjoy the elevation changes including T13; it's a little seemingly simplified corner, yet is some what technical, but as MotoCT noted it is at the end of a down hill straight and narrows before, at, and through the apex. It reminds me a little bit of T11 at Laguna Seca.

Thanks man, I think it hit all of us in the NW racing community pretty hard. Whether you knew him or not, he is one of us, and he died doing what we all love to do. Wayy too soon though.
Pearce was an organ donor as well so he'll continue saving lives even after his passing. Thanks for all the well wishes guys, I know this forum genuinely cares about their fellow rider, and I wanted you guys to know a little more about Pearce.
