Just picked up my new 2019 that's intended for Track Use. Still in it's street clothes for the last track day before summer heat hear in So Cal. Wondering what Race Plastics people are fitting.
Hotbodies are a couple of miles from me so I'll take a wander up there and see what they have (looks like I need to do some battery box and exhaust surgery to get it all to fit), looks like the might have some nice rear sets too.
How do you like the crc's? I need to get a set of fairings in 3 weeks. It says it's upper, lower, and two sides.....? And if you don't mind how much did it come out to?
This is what the Hotbodies green gel coat kit looks like on my 2012, and it only cost me $599 from Sportbiketrackgear. It was a little challenging to get it to fit perfectly.
I have just received the CRC Fairings and about to fit them, but have a few questions.
1. On the rear cowling, did you need to drill through rear sub frame (2 at the rear and one through the battery retaining plate) to mount it?
2. Where did you mount the rectifier as the OEM mounting is attached to the fairings. I was considering a bracket from the Air RAM ducting but concerned on sufficient air flow.
3. Did you completely remove the rubber mount under the front of the fuel tank to allow the side panels to sit flush?
4. What amount of clearance did you have between those side panel (directly beneath the fuel tank) and the rear cowling?

Looks like I messed up a lot. F*** the covid I can't afford to waste so much money nowadays.
As far as I understand, I'll have to replace stock exhaust and battery in order to get it fitted. Don't have money on fancy new exhaust.
Does anyoine have HB kit for `19 ZX-6R? How did it fit?
Mine will be here Friday..watched the vids on it..looks like it fits no problem. Ordered both the rivet and slip on Dzus and some push pins for the rear panel. I think the hardest part will be removing the upper fairing.
The differences in fairings are mostly in the nose, as the 'ram air' / fairing stay piece is different. They all MOUNT the same, but the shape at the opening is different and therefore not interchangeable between years just from a shape perspective.
So you can take for example 2013 fairings and put them on a 2009, but you'd also have to get the ram air 'tube' so that it connects to the opening on the fairings.
The fuel tank fairings are interchangeable, but you may need to buy a year specific bracket for whatever fairings you want to get.
I think that any model specific bodywork it is fully usable with other years, as long as you install with supporting hardware. I also suspect that all of the electronic components are also the same, but as they are track plastics it shouldn't matter.
I installed the Hot Bodies kit I got from STG on my 2012 ZX6r, I got the green gel coat one and figured I'd spend less without having to paint a more expensive kit. Yea it was a bit of a project to cut and trim certain areas and get the fasteners all correct. But it works just fine afterwards for putting it on and off and it also took damage well in a low side on the asphalt at 45 mph.
I've been told by various riders that hotbodies requires too many modifications to get it to fit properly. I have a set of MotoXP ricambi that required minimal modifications but I'm only getting fairings from sharkskinz or carbonin in the future.
Juzt finished my Armourbody on a 2020..it was a long day..but it fits great..and it wont work with stock exhaust..hits the mid can..Graves exhaust coming froday which eliminates all that crap..if i did run stock..would have to cut the lower to fit..but if your running race fairings might as well get rid of the heavy exhaust..
A new battery and exhaust shouldnt be too bad..check out hindle exhausts..or go with one stocked by Revzilla and get the 3 payment option no interest...beats eating the order.
The hardest part is removing the original plastic..take a ton of pictures in case one day you want to go back to stock...honestly I don't know if I ever will be able to put it back together. The seat area is easy. You do have to cut the plastic under the seat where the tail light is so it can tuck under the seat plastic. You use a lot of the original fasteners so keep them and label them. The small panel behind the seat can be put on with 3 push pins. When you take the front off you reuse the windshield stay under it. 2 bolts hold it to the headlight assembly. I used longer screws to attach the windshield as the stock ones didn't reach. The lower is easy but needs 4 dzus to attach to upper. Might have to cut it to clear exhaust.
The armour body weighs half what the stock plastics weight..so far I've shed 50 lbs with everything...
