I wish the factory guys would do that. Nothing against JD, but I feel like Elias and Beaubier would do better. Herrin did it last year when he was on JD's bike and surprisingly was slower in WSBK on the Pirellis than he was in MotoAmerica on the Dunlops, even though it was the same weekend.

2007 ZZR600 (sold)
2006 CBR600 (sold)
2010 1198 (parted out across North America)
2013 CBR500R (sold)
2009 ZX6R (parted out across North America)
2015 R3 (sold)
2018 Ninja 400 (race bike)
2013 RSV4 (race bike)

April 2016 and April 2017 6OTM winner!

At least the team has last year's data. Maybe that'll make a difference? . Probably not.

Good point. I would think it will especially if conditions will be similar. Don't think much has changed on the bike since then. Very curious to see how JD will do. If he doesn't crash or have a mechanical problem, I bet he'll be top 15.

Suzuki: 24

BMW: 5

Honda: 3

Aprilia: 1

MV Agusta: 1

On a related note, it’s safe to say that most professional motorcycle road racers do not get involved in the sport to become rich. They do it almost purely for the exhilaration, the competition, and the absolutely unbridled fun of it all.

But, since we are about to begin the second half of the 2019 MotoAmerica season, we thought it would be interesting to figure out who the top money-earners are in each of the five MotoAmerica race classes.

Keep in mind that our calculations are based purely on a combination of the MotoAmerica purse and manufacturers’ contingency funds that each rider has earned based on their on-track results. These figures do not include any team bonuses, personal sponsorship payments, endorsement earnings, or other income that the riders may receive as a result of their participation in the MotoAmerica Series.

Top Five Money Earners Per Class (Purse and Manufacturers’ Contingency Earnings)

EBC Brakes Superbike

1. Toni Elias $86,000
2. Cameron Beaubier $63,000
3. JD Beach $57,500
4. Mathew Scholtz $49,000
5. Jake Lewis $48,250

Supersport

1. Bobby Fong $37,500
2. Sean Dylan Kelly $24,750
3. Hayden Gillim $21,750
4. Richie Escalante $19,500
5. P.J. Jacobsen $15,000

Liqui Moly Junior Cup

1. Rocco Landers $16,000
2. Dallas Daniels $8,850
3. Kevin Olmedo $4,000
4. Sam Lochoff $2,550
5. Cameron Jones $2,500

Stock 1000

1. Andrew Lee $22,600
2. Stefano Mesa $22,500
3. Michael Gilbert $13,150
4. Geoff May $10,750
5. Travis Wyman $6,550

Twins Cup

1. Chris Parrish $7,850
2. Curtis Murray $6,800
3. Alex Dumas $4,900
4. Draik Beauchamp $4,850
5. Michael Barnes $2,750

Total $558,850

^^^ thats cool info.

I wonder how the P&L statements look like for the Twins Cup, JR Cup, and Stock 1000 classes. I mean they're prolly not MAKING money, but breaking even would be super awesome at this level..

I follow a lot of riders on IG and it looks lie Chris Parrish is amazing at budgeting. So i bet he might be closest..

Those JR Cup bikes shouldn't have crazy operating costs either. However, considering most of the riders are 15-17 i'm assuming its the parents/sponsors doing the budgeting.

Race 1 was great. I thought Toni Elias knows Laguna Seca like the back of his hand at this point. Garrett Gerloff was close to getting his first race win so we'll see how the team chemistry with Cameron Beaubier will be affected.

Hey @ninjaman89 , how about that MotoAmerica debut? Kaleb DeKeyrel just won his very first MotoAmerica race, and I know you've beaten him in WERA races before. Get yourself a twin and go kick ass!

haha you're crazy @sbk1198

I would LOVE to but I can't afford another bike! I just need to find a team that believes in me and will give me a ride to go race that class

Roaring Toyz is sponsoring Kaleb and they built the bike for him so he just had to hop on a plane from Tx and go race.

Yup. I, for one, was glad to see Josh Hayes back in the grid. He didn't look like he enjoyed being in the sidelines.

Not to mention that is about 20k into the engine
5k into suspension
2500 into bodywork and mounts
and no doubt another 3-5k into rearsets, bars, offset adjustable triples, lightweight battery and frame modification etc.......
and you still need to buy the bike and do all the work

I know Draiks bike...........it is about a $40,000 dollar bike with shit no other fz07 can even get yet as he is stationed out of MN all this summer working for AP who is doing "all" of the work on said bike.......... just 70 miles away from me
So the 5000ish bucks he has won this season thus far has not even covered travels and lodging and entry fees, let alone shown any "profit" or even buy the bike............ or pay for the super high maintenance costs and repairs........

It isn't like the days when Yamaha was paying big bucks in the late 80's and one could club race and win like 15k in the season and pay for your entire season and the bike.............. (because everything cost about 1/4th as much then too)

I bet if you are self sponsored you need atleast 65k to actually break even in twins class and that is if you do not blow up more than one engine.....
add atleast 12k-20k for each engine you disintegrate

woohoo we are having fun now
Stupid people say stupid things on the internet, so be wary of who those people are. If you solicit advice on the internet, just keep in mind 99% of what you'll receive is not based on fact or science-and likely atleast 95% of it is based on bullshit and bravado regurgitated from some other schlub who also did not experience any of what they claim and are also full of shit. If you don't like my bluntness- too bad. I am not here to please you, so move along, your approval is not desired nor is it needed. So before opening your pie hole and adding more stupidity, perhaps sit back, listen, absorb and learn something. You know that saying, it is better to remain silent and thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt!

Yeah. Not going to do a pro season for less than 60k or so. Almost nobody is making money racing except the very top guys

The MotoAmerica round at NJMP was a lot of fun! Went there Friday evening for the weekend to volunteer as a grid marshall. Saturday I was the row 4 guy, and sunday row 7 (which meant I didn't do much Sunday since only a couple of the classes had 7 rows). Super easy job, that doesn't require much time at all and you get to watch the races from pretty much wherever you want. I recommend it to anyone that's local to any track that MotoAmerica races at. Plus you get free lunch each day and a free dinner with all the volunteers and a guest racer that you can talk to and ask whatever you want (JD Beach was our guest racer this time) and a shirt and hat at the end.

Having just raced there for the 6th time, the previous weekend, it was crazy to watch the fast guys in some of the turns and I realized how much of a bitch I am on the brakes :/ My pace on my 400 in my races is generally good enough for a top 5 in club racing and I was happy to see that I was within a couple of seconds of the top guys...but then Rocco Landers smashed the lap record this weekend and went 8 seconds faster than my best time...which I can't even comprehend how that's possible!! His pace was good enough to win expert club races in the Lightweight class (SV650s, FZ07s, etc.)!!!
