My new hobby

Sooo, not sure why, but I wanted to give powder coating a try. So far I like it, but still have a lot to learn! I wanted to learn how to paint, but dont really have the space for it, so figured this would be the next best thing.
Here are a couple things that I've done over the weekend.

Thanks for looking. Like I said, still a LOT to learn!

the only question I have for you is are you taking it down to bare metal and cleaning it or just throwing powder at the pieces?

As far as the caliper, I went over the gold. Cleaned any grease, wax or any residues off.
There wasnt any cracks, chips, or defects so I thought it would be ok.

Should I have brought it down to bare?

Still learning, so deff open to any and all suggestions.

its not 100% nessisery to go to bare every time.... they make a primer t help it stick better but I ALWAYS take it to bare metal

Im lucky enough to live right by these guys columbiacoatings.com and they mix custom colors on the sport and they also can color match.

FYI the "powder chrome" looks like dog shit .. and you cant get the powder to stick to chrome either

Thanks for the tip

Ya, wasn't sure about going down to bare, I was kind of thinking that the gold would act like a base coat.
Now thinking about it, I prob should get some prime powders. If I'm going to do it, I want it to be rite.
I will deff look into that site. Again, thanks for the info man

Looks great man! You are using a home oven to bake with or did you grab a used commercial oven? Those bread ovens Subway has (the upright ones) might be cool for your projects.

Nice work man!
