Hi everybody. Im new here. I own a ninja 636 from the 06'. My ninja has a problem. And i have no idea what it is. This is what happens. It turns on like no prob. But rpms are very low untill it warms up. Then it is fine. I cant raise the rpms when its cold because then when it warms up it will be to accelerated. Second problem. It runs no problem for about 1.5 hrs. And then it turns off. Then i have to wait untill it cools down so i can turn it back on. Why this happens? I replace recently the spark plugs, clutch, and the clutch sensor. This sensor is made of copper and gets smaller by tbe friction so its got to be replace or it will do what my byke does. But that did not fix the problem. :-( why god? Why cant i fix this problem? Help please. Help!!!!

Yep sounds like an overheated ecu. My 05 had the same problem. Would run fine for about and hour or so and then just shut off. I replaced the ecu and never had the problem again. Some people say they fixed that problem with the 06's but I talked to a shop owner and very good mechanic who had raced 636's for years and he said there is no way that is true because the 05 and 06 have the same exact ecu numbers.

if temperatures are under 15celcius then there is a big gap for the FI to bridge in temperature between a cold engine and a warmed up one.

so you will have to raise the idle to 1500 at start up and after about 2min of riding you wanna lower it tp get it back to 1500 so it won't pull forward when closing the throttle at rest.
older carb bikes are even more sensitive but no problem since we all still got the manual idle adjuster which does nothing more than turn in and out a screw at the throttle body to keep a slim gap open for air to get into the chambers.

While this does sound like the dreaded ECU issue, I was under the impression that it only effected the 05 model and was rectified with the 06. If that is not the case, someone feel free to correct me.

Is the FI light illuminated? If so, please pull the codes and let us know what they are.

I was under the same impression, but could be completely wrong. I have no real first-hand or reliable knowledge on the topic :O
