Clutch/rpm problems?

Hey guys, I'm fairly new to the sport bike world so I don't know if this is a common issue or not, but sometimes when I'm cruising, say 50mph or higher, if I pull the clutch in and let the rpm's drop to idle it will drop to low and kill the engine, what could be the cause of that and how could I fix it?

Its an 01 zx6r, it has just over 17k miles on it and as far as i know there are no mods or performance parts on it. Im beginning to think it might be the pilot jet maby? when I go to adjust the rpm idle, just the smallest turn and it will spike up to like 2500-3000rpm. also alot of times if im stopped at a red lite or stop sign i can rev it and the rpm's will stick around that same range (2500-3000).

More than likely a carb problem. I would start by taking the carbs off and giving them a thorough cleaning. After your done cleaning make sure the floats are adjusted properly. If you can, with a friends tool maybe? you could see if they are all synched together.
Run it and see what happens
