He'll learn sooner or later that it wasn't the smartest idea and how physically challenging just the riding position is. No one here can tell me they don't get back pain after 1/2hr ride on the hwy.

But most beginners will complain even more about developing carpal tunnel syndrome which is false impression due to a bad riding position.
So true.

Just for kicks:

And my favorite.

I Ride: 06 636
I took a couple minutes and ran a quote through Geico...

Assuming:

birthday: 1/24/1996
car DL since 16
motorcycle DL at 18
single, no kids
financed motorcycle
MSF course: yes
no accidents or other claims.
no tickets or other violations
random address in Red Bluff, CA

The yearly premium is Your 12-month policy is only $1842.80

I just chose the minimum insurance requirements for a full coverage policy. I'm sure my assumptions aren't correct, but probably not too far off. This is just for comparison anyway.

Same information with an 08 Ninja 650 Your 12-month policy is only $1385.80

Ouch either way! Holy cow!

Do it through Progressive. I've always found Geico (at least here) is crazy expensive comparatively.

Progressive is way cheaper. Also, especially with a used bike, you all may not agree with me but why not just get theft and liability?? I see no point in collision on something that isnt all that valuable to begin with.

I pay $275 a year for my Speed Triple with progressive. I have no insurance on the ZX6 as it is a track only machine.

Totally agree. I have a shit driving record. 2 DWIs, leaving the scene, careless and impudent, 2 speeding tickets and progressive gave me full coverage on my Zx6r for $60 a month. Geico, State Farm, Farmers and all the others who claim to insure anybody cheap wouldn't even take me, too high risk. Have loved Progressive since.

For me, it was worth it. NADA lists average for my 636 at about $5100.
