As some may recall I started a thread after binning it at Laguna Seca back in December.
https://zx6r.com/mechanical-technical...-makeover.html.
I really didn't end up doing a whole lot to the bike aside from a bearing and replace a few broken parts. So it wasn't much of a build. This thread will not die out as the bike being built is not my main bike. So I can work slowly and use this thread as a progression of what will become Phoenix. A 2012 ZX6R track/race bike that will be built from ground up.
If you need parts for a 2009-2012 just ask. I might not part with certain stuff but some stuff I will definitely consider selling.
So here we go....
Picked her up on Friday night and brough her home yesterday. She was a friend's bike and had a rod go through the case. I bought the rolling chassis... no engine. Initially I just wanted the fuel tank to replace the original tank that got bashed up in the crash at Laguna o Sunshine. Over the months I kept nagging and finally he just said...."why don't you just take the whole thing?"
Well okie dokie then. So this will not be some quick build. This thread might be getting updated this time next year. But the progression wI'll be documented for all to enjoy!
Brought her back to the house and off loaded. I didn't waste any time. It was tear down time. Threw her on the stand and went to work.
Forks and front wheel first
Brakes
After a beer.... went back pulling parts off.
Down to just frame, swingarm, triples, and shock.
Pulled the shock and linkage off and pretty much everything fits in a box now.
