Ok so i'm hoping to get a little feed back about tires.
This is not a thread about which tires to pick...more about the life and condition of a tire.
I brought my 636 home with me on 11/25/13, due to the winter I didn't get to ride more than around the block the day I brought it home. As I winterized my bike I started to notice the tires looked - for lack of better term - dry(sorta).
I called my dealer about getting new tabs since February is nearing and I found out the bike hadn't been registered for an entire year prior to when the dealership acquired it. This confirmed my suspicion that the tires were older.
The visual inspection of the tires shows, to the best of my judgement, that the center tread is around 50% wear and the outside edges is probably 40% wear. Though the tire seems a bit dry, it isn't cracking or splitting or anything like that. I should mention these are Dunlop Q2's.
There seems to be fairly good tread left in the tires but as far as condition goes...will there be any ill effects from a tire that was partially used and then stored for over a year
Will I lose traction because the tire compounds have weathered / aged from storage some?
Any feedback would be much appreciated.
