2019 ZX6-R Event Data Recorder

An SAE Technical Paper (2017-01-1436) describes data pertaining to crash events available through the use of the Kawasaki Diagnostic Software tool. Does anyone know where this tool (software and USB adapter) may be available from? I'm sure I could acquire from Kawasaki, but they make motorcycles, not diagnostic equipment, and may require a dealer code to purchase.

The ECU definitely knows a tremendous amount of information that an investigator would find useful. As far as I know, that information is not protected from seizure by any party. We can be charged with crimes, based on evidence obtained from our vehicles, without warrant.

Personally, I'm much more interested in scrubbing any files than I am in reviewing them.

^^to your point, I know that there are insurance companies that will base your rates on such data, that they download through a dongle attached to the OBD port on automobiles.

Presuming there is an interface standard relating to data transfers on the CANBUS, I expect that the information you want is in a format which is published and therefore obtainable. Don't know if that's a SAE standard, IEEE, or something else. I know that more recent CANBUS versions have high data transfer rates, to accommodate ABS, TCS, etc.
