Bike laid down for many days - need suggestion.

Hi All,
My bike was knocked down by someone in the parking lot and it laid on the ground for 5 days while I was out of town and came to know about it upon my return.
Since it is a hit and run case, I need to get it fixed through my insurance. The bike seems to be in good shape, with minimum damage but I have couple of questions regarding the damages and I need your professional opinion and recommendation.
1) The vehicle hit from the rear left side, near the rear sprocket and fell to the right. Would there be any structural damage that I should be concerned about?
2) The whole right side of the bike is covered in oil. It looks like engine oil and may be the gasoline also leaked. I am not sure where the oil came from. Should I be concerned about it? The insurance adjuster is concerned that the oil might have gone into areas where it should not be and fixing it is money intensive and calls it out as a risk of supplemental claim beyond the value of the bike. The adjuster is considering the option to total the bike. I don't want to total the bike as it has $2600 worth of new upgrades. How bad could the situation be? What could possibly go wrong and can this be fixed?
3) Should I ask them to write a check to me and I get the bike fixed or should I accept the offer to total the bike? Which is a safer option?
4) The right fairing has few minor scratches. Thank god I invested in handle bar ends and shorty levers. I am considering to get a decal kit to cover them up. Is that a good idea? If so, could you please recommend any kits or brands who make good quality decals?

It's hard to judge man. I think the oil is from the air box breather hose (?) possibly otherwise no clue.
My concerns are
1) Swing arm straight? Rear shock not seized?
2) Rear shock seized, rear rim bent? (Ceap fixes).
3) Gas tank cracked?
4) Did it rain?

At the end of the day only you know if it is worth it or not. If the insurance claim seems decent for the time it would take you to restore your bike, take it.
Maybe get a brand new 2 cylinder bike and save the rest if you had your fun already. Maybe its a sign for you to move on. Not sure what insurance you have but you paid the insurance so take the claim.

In California for my 07 zx6r I only paid $240 a year for bare minimum insurance. Not covered are thefts, accidents, etc. 15k for property damage (if i hit someone at my fault), 30k for bodily injury (at my fault), and 1-3k for uninsured driver if they get caught (if i get hit, not at fault)...

Its up to u if the bike is worth fixing or not.

But I cant imagine too much damage from just a drop while parked. The only major damage I can think of would be a cracked stator or clutch cover since u say oil spilled out.

I would take the fairings off, spray the oil off with some degreaser or something of that sort. Then start her up and see what happens. Rev it a few times....make sure oil isnt pouring out from somewhere. Then make sure the tires are oil-free and take the bike for a spin to see how it rides.

If all is good....then I'd say its good. Just worry bout the small cosmetic stuff.

Race bikes hit the ground much harder than being knocked over in a parking lot. Unless they ran over the top of it running away, odds are very good it's not too serious. If you are claiming this on your insurance, which coverage are you using? Home owners, renters, vehicular? You weren't riding it.... Presuming that it was legally parked this is property damage rather than an accident on your part.

The oil probably escaped from the cases..... If the bike was upside down for a few days, I wouldn't try to start it without pulling the plugs. Just on its side? Check the level, clean it up and see if it starts.

The mechanic informed yesterday that the swingarm is slightly bent. I don't know the condition of the shock and the rim. The damage is not that visual and that is why all this confusion. Gas tank is clean, with no damages. It did rain but it had the cover. They have just inspected the exterior. They haven't opened anything yet. Just waiting for the full report.

Is a swing arm damage very serious? If I change the swing arm, would it be worth fixing it?

If the swing arm is bent, that most likely means wheel alignment to the rest of the bike has been affected. I don't know that I would trust a repair; bent aluminum castings don't like bending back.

At this point, I would be much more concerned. Were there scrape marks on the frame or swing arm?

I didn't mean to fix the existing swing arm. Since the bike was from the rear left side, would there be more damage, like the main frame, rear sprocket, the rear shock etc., that the cost of fixing is not worth the bike in total. That was my question.

Also, I read somewhere that the swing arm for the 09-12 zx6r and 13-19 zx6r are one and the same. Is that a correct statement? I found a "like new" swingarm that's described as 13-19 zx6r. I am looking to get that if it is compatible with my zx6r. Please confirm.

The comments were that if there really is swingarm damage, and that the bike was hit hard enough to cause swingarm damage, that it would make one concerned that there is other unseen structural damage that would make a repair too expensive. I just have a hard time believing swingarm damage from a bike just falling over; it would have had to have been really hit (deliberately) hard to do that. Of course, since there are no witnesses, who really knows.

If the bike were run over, or partially crushed by a garbage truck, city bus, moving van, etc., then there would be a chance of frame damage in addition to swingarm damage. Simply being knocked over shouldn't do that sort of damage.

I have attached the picture that would show you the angle of hit. My concerns are based on the fact that my bike was pushed 3 feet away from where it was parked. The cover is torn in multiple places. I heard it rained pretty heavily for couple of days but my cover protected it but it laid on the ground for 5 days.

pics showing the damage you are concerned with, would be of greater use in trying to determine what sort of damage you could expect to have hidden from casual examination. A torn cover still covers a lot of the bike. Broken plastics, foot pegs, scraped up exhaust, close ups of rims, forks, tank, bars, frame at any point that might have made contact with the ground.......

If you SMOG stuff has been removed from bike it possible ti lose some gas thru the hoses, but not much. your brake and our shift levers might have gut into the clutch and or stator cover. oil can def come out the the airbox when it's down. It could be brake fluid too. If your swingarm is bent it's almost 100% that your SUBFRAME is bent too. My 03 zx6r has been backed over, dropped, pushed over,exhaust manifold pierced and other stuff. Still ride it everyday, has 80k+ miles and has salvaged title.
