Bike cuts off at high speeds

Got a 2005 636. When I get up to some higher speeds (120+) and accelerating , if I pull the clutch in, the bike dies. I'll pull off the the side, put it in neutral and restart it. Nothing weird after restarting, just starts right back up. Buddy says it needs a valve adjustment. The bike has 22,000 miles. Thoughts on what might be wrong?

What is your idle set at when the bike is fully warmed up?

The fuel tank could be rusty. That might be clogging the filter on the pump. Your vent lines from the tank might be kinked.

How long have you had the bike? What maintenance has it had?

Idle is set at approximately 1200 when it's warm. For maintenance, not much. Cam position sensor replaced a year ago, seasonal oil changes (K&N filter, quality oil). I bought the bike with 16,000 miles on it about 5 years ago. No idea what maintenance was like before me.

Raise your idle to 1600. That will probably fix it.

Why are you pulling the clutch in and letting revs drop to idle at high speed? If you just let the clutch back out does it restart?

Have the valves ever been checked? If not you're well past the point where they should be.
