Had a pair of SMX1's for about 3+ years now. They get a bit dirty and dusty but after 3 years they look brand new after a good clean! Very comfortable too, were like an old boot the day I got them. Don't use them even in a slightl rain fall as they are not for wet weather riding at all and they allow lots of water in. I'd love a pair of SMX 2'S buthe the 1's still look brand new as I said and no need to change. Great for warmer riding and days where you want comfortable shoes for the whole day when not riding. Both great shoes and everything you'd expect from AStars!

For general "around town" type riding I have been using the SMX2 for a couple of years now and am happy with it. It is considered a chopped down version of the SMX5 boot. The SMX2 is comfy enough to walk around a little bit in once you arrive at your destination, but still not really meant to be walked around in all day kind of thing. I use the 2's in conjunction with knee pads to give me protection from the knee down to the ground. If you plan on going to the track, some tracks will allow you to use them, but I still recommend getting a full length race boot for track days or more spirited riding.

A friend of mine who got the SMX1 hated them due to the fact that they are much more shoe-like vs boot-like, and didnt really offer any more protection than a hightop shoe. He returned the 1's and got the 2's and has also been quite happy with them.

These showed up today. Not bad on the shipping from RevZilla, they got them to me pretty quick (basically 3 days counting the day I ordered). I tried them on for a few minutes after I took them out of the box, and they feel pretty nice. I'm not used to wearing boots at all, so they do feel a little strange overall, but still nice. It was pretty warm in my house as well when I got home, so the boots were feeling kind of warm too. Hopefully my feet won't burn up when it's 95F outside here. The summers in Memphis suck, but I want to be protected (and comfortable).

I have the SMX-1 but I haven't worn them since getting a pair of Dainese full boots and reading about ankle breaks.

I had ordered the 2s, but were too big (ordered wrong size) so I sent them back to revzilla and (before they were a close out) added an extra 60 smackeroonis to get the SMX-6. They're pretty comfortable all around and I've gone into the stores with them without any discomfort. I'm just your average commuter but definitely feel safer having these on. Worth the trouble carrying shoes in your backpack if you're going to work. No break in period and you can slip your pants over long as you don't were skinny jeans that is lol

I checked out the SMX-1 and SMX-2 boots as well as the Faster shoes. Ended up with the SMX-1 over the Faster shoes as the Fasters were too narrow (I needed a 10.5 width-wise). The SMX-1 has a bit more breathability over the SMX-2 due to the tongue design and both fit well, I took the 1 for warm weather riding.

Ive owned the SMX-1s for about 2 years now, very comfy. While I thankfully havent crashed yet, Ive noticed there's a fair amount of space around the ankles that could come loose in the event of said crash. Im planning to upgrade to full race boots soon..
