So girl has a 2003 Honda Shadow

about 7 years ago she brought it and I cleaned the carbs and installed a new tire and told her she would need a new drive chain soon

Well she brought it back Wednesday evening because it is puking gas all over when you turn on the petcock and she hasn't ridden it in about 3 years..... "Umm didn't you already fix my carbs, why are they doing this?"

sometimes all you can do is laugh and blow it off.......... good thing she is good looking because common sense she cannot rely on.
She got a 15 minute "lecture" on the virtues of motorcycle maintenance and ownership........ I think she may get it now

now to find a 525x124L chain in stock somewhere local to install so it can leave for the weekend.......... everyone (myself included) seems to only have up to 120L on hand............ ugh....

woohoo we are having fun now

From the race files...........

When the racer takes it upon himself to buy an entirely different ecu package and the fueling, ignition timing, shift cut timing, rev limiter and everything needs to be set up and they have zero experience with this but try and do it during the race weekend on their own anywaysLloyd's Motorcycle Performance Center-20190723_204302-1.jpg

How do you turn a small fortune into no fortune............

Start blowing up engines...........

high compression piston set............... $350
custom cams................................... $650
Ti valves......................................... $500
requisite NI AL Bronze seats............. $250
Yoyodyne....................................... $900
web cams spring set ....................... $260
Carillo rods..................................... $600
a whole shit load of oe parts............. $1000
one used engine to start with............ $950
if you had to buy the exhaust, tune, intake add those in too...........
about 5k in labor to do it all (trans undercut and micro polished, porting/valve job and cam timing, bored throttle bodies, trans shimming and set up, and full tuning and assembly....)

and you have yourself a fairly reliable 90 hp engine instead of an anemic piece of shit stock engine at about 65hp

~$450/horsepower is really what this comes to.............. even though a pipe, intake and tuning @ about $1300 nets you the first 4-5hp @ about $260/horsepower

What's in your wallet............... not much after this build x 2................

Looks fine to me. Just run a dingleberry hone on the cylinder and a set of rings and gaskets. Good as new.

So guys shows up as a fill in for a cancelled/delayed appt today......

I tell him it is going to take atleast 2 hours to do so he should go get some lunch or something........

he arrives, and states he is going to sit outside and text for a bit before leaving......

I start working on his bike when I hear another bike arrive, his woman...pretty sure it wasn't his wife

anyways he says when I am done with his can I put a new front tire on hers too...I go look and I do indeed have the correct tire in brand and size she wants and inform him of his totally worn out rear brake pads and that I know I do not have any left on hand but while they go get lunch they could stop by the dealer (8 miles away) and pick some up

So off they go, I tell him it will be about another 90 minutes if there are no problems

So about 45 minutes later he calls says he got the pads and are going to lunch, any reason to hurry back........ nope- I will finish up the front and after you get back I will get the pads in and then get the bags/exhaust etc back on.......be about 30 minutes once you return

So I start on the front, it has some aftermarket lower fork covers that cover the axle bolt, fork pinch bolts, caliper bolts etc........ they have to come off to do the work!!

Well I ended up having to drill all 4 of the bolts that hold these on (steel screws into brass inserts into a plastic fork protector and 2 of the screwws no allen fit- they were already stripped.the other two the damn brass insert spun in the plastic and were never coming out how it was assembled sans melting the plastic...)- so drilling the heads off seemed the best option

anyways so maybe a 15-20 minute added delay there, so the front wheel was just going on the balancer when they returned

So knowing they have atleast 30 minutes........they go out and lay in the grass under a shade tree and are playing all hot and heavy....... umm..... houses right across the street, people driving by, people walking less than 5' from them on the sidewalk and the 2 neighbors dogs barking for like 10 minutes straight at them, nothing seemed to bother nor deter them from their affections
ie......... they take turns who is on top and in command of the affections

So I finally get done with the bike and they decided it took too long and don't have time to do hers today and will do it monday when they both have "free time" again......the whispers and talk between pretty much confirmed they are having an affair behind both their spouses backs........... I did have to chuckle just a little bit as they made these plans, he is there with full erection aimed down his leg and she is trying to get her bra hooked back up withotu lifting her shirt too high...
Well I have to hand it to them, they drove to a motorcycle shop 45 miles from where they (well from his house anyways- no idea where she lives til she fills out a work order form) live to make this rendevous
The guy has been here once before a few years back, and I think his wife was much hotter than this woman - but maybe it is just about the danger and newness and excitement
At any rate......... with the delays and the extra work a normally 2-2:15 hr two tire change on a Victory Crossroads turned into 3 hours and bit about another 10 minutes into the following appt who was a little early and then ended up having to wait about 20 minutes for his two tire change..thankfully this one only took 42 minutes form on life to off lift........... sportbikes are so much easier and faster than touring bikes.....

is there a moral to this story----- probably not as the world is pretty immoral, so purhaps it is more a lesson in common decency and the difference between right and wrong

Don't cheat on your spouse or significant other and don't be a crude tasteless asshole with almost gross levels of PDA in public (keep that shit in the shadows and private so not everyone who happens by, has to see it)
I still do not condone this behavior

perhaps the video clip from the security cameras should make their way to the spouse? (after Mondays sale of course....lol)

Just home from 4 days riding the ozarks

day 4 cut short due to a fuel pump failure left me stranded some 42 miles south of Harrison where I ended up having to hitch a ride from a local to get the truck and go back and retrieve said bike......... ( I will say- Even with 8' long curves ramps- loading a 400# bike into the bed of a modern day full size truck with no engine help sucks ass!)

I guess 97,500 miles and 11+ years of flawless and dependable riding had to come to an end at some point........

Sadly, I actually had a new pump sitting at home I could have brought with and would have been able to continue riding.......or a length of fuel line to bypass the pump and just keep the tank full could have been enough to get it around the rest of the final day.........
Happily......... I have a new fuel pump and it'll be as good as new in no time and riding will commence again this weekend......

Sadly again...........

gf was along

she managed to find a truck that pulled out right in front of her and ended up getting a lifeflight helicopter tour of AR down to Little Rock (what a shithole!) where she was found to be "fine" sans her concussion and held for about 26 hours before being released..... plus some huge bruises (right side of face, neck, pelvis area and shoulder.......and more soreness... and of course her normal abnormalities and quirks

truck got hit right in the driver door.... I think ABS may have helped her get less injured or maybe even avoid the truck altogether but who knows, I was not there to see it nor know how quickly the truck driver pulled out and at what distance..... (no skid marks from either vehicle)
Truck trip home entailed about 3 extra hours of time for all those puke stops for her..........ugh.... not to mention those extra 170 miles down to Little Rock and then the return 170 miles before the start of the 670 mile drive to home

a few pictures of the scene..........

200 yards plus of clear line of sight visibilty looking up the highway from that intersection.....Woman driver in the truck was cited for failure to yield- hardly enough punishment for drivers who cause accidents!

main street and 65 in downtown Clinton AR

fyi- I left the 300ninja at the impound yard, clearly totalled she is going to take the monies and stop riding...insurance can have the bike....;.

Glad you both made it home. Sorry she's injured, hope it's as relatively minor as it seems at the moment.

Modern trucks are all stupid high at the bed level.

I was off riding on my own and about 150 miles into my day when I texted from a fuel stop to let her know where I was and got a call immediately back from the paramedics on her phone telling me of the crash (she was unconscious at the scene)......... So if she left the hotel and headed straight down that way she was about 55 miles into her day. So I doubt any fatigue was setting in.... It does suck she won't be able to ride any longer, but that is her choice

Some of her bruises continue to get more visible, while a couple are fading away... but she is definitely more sore now than she was 2 days ago, but her head feels better (less cloudy) so.......

And yes modern trucks are stupid high, the damn tailgate/bed hieght could easily be 8" lower or more even with 4WD!

Today is her Birthday to boot, hell of a way to "celebrate" ones birthday, with fresh injury and pain......

update;

her bruises have all gotten bigger and darker over the past week

and right above her lady bits (where she smashed the tank) has continued to swell up and she saw a doctor about it today and goes to get an MRI of the area tomorrow afternoon.......... it like she shoved about 2 gallons of water there or something.......... but it is big

Hopefully it doesn't turn out to be too serious........

Insurance has not named any values yet but they did go pick up the bike today......... $250 tow (3 blocks from crash scene) and $44/day- they bitched to her on the phone today about that $690 charge just to pick up the bike...like it is her fault assholes!

She has a safety equipment rider but only for $500, so that barely covers a helmet cost..........but........ better than no safety equipment coverages

and the motorcycle, well looking at them all over local they range from 3200-4200 ask prices and all have quadruple or more the miles she had on hers and most have tip over or worse damage..... it only just turned 1700 miles on the trip that morning in the 13 months of her ownership....... yep, she
barely rides.....

anyways- the ticketed driver also has progressive, so no doubt they will try and be real stingy since it is the same monies out from the same company.....

here was my Saturday in a nutshell....
first bike to arive brought shitco tires- I refused to install them and he bought some dunlops and returned the shitco's...
meanwhile his buddyy arrives two up on his stretched and lowered busa and looky at what happened to his rear tire on the way here...... he called an uber for his gf to take her home becasue he refused to raise the suspension and stiffen the spring (after I installed a new tire)
then I get this 89 bike with original tires.......... original !!! production date of 11 of 89......... He actually had it towed becasue it puked all the gas he just filled the tank with the night before and wouldn't turn over or start - hydro locked- and he didn't say anything about the tires til I brought them up......... and a few other safety issues..
I also get this 98 bike also with original tires but no weather checking, but look at these bullshit forward controls- his master cylinder is so close to the aftermarket exhaust it melted the seals and no rear brakes....... So I need to rebuild once kit arrives and build a heat shield...
and then this gem, guy installed his own rear brake line but couldn't get the front, but brought it here with about 10% brake function total to install new front line and flush/bleed both so they work 100% again........ Why- How do you take the rear caliper bracket off and install it back incorrectly??
last bike of the day- I don't even remember now, 5 bikes arrived all with huge safety issues...... oh yea- it had a clip style master link but no clip and about 3" of free play and you could tell it hadn't been lubed in years- the rust was likely what held that outer plate on!
