Thank you for your comments. In regards to my mental health, I am just fine. This happened in May of 2016. It was a stupid mistake that I paid for and now have recovered from. I told my story so that others can see that it is ok to talk about and everyone deals with hurdles in their lives. So back to this build..
After it had sat for about a year, I started pricing parts then buying them once I committed to the build. I mentioned I still had a strait frame and motor, and after spending $7K after Cali taxes, I decided to not part for "pennies on the dollar." I priced the build at $2,300. I had to do everything myself and I also had to learn how to paint with pro results. I started by buying a used donor wiring harness. I had stripped or damaged 8 connections on the original harness so I fixed the original harness by cutting the connections I needed off of the donor harness, then used wiring connectors to attach the new connections to the original harness. I then wrapped the connections with electrical tape.
I ordered everything I needed off of EBay.com. I then installed the parts as they trickled in. My biggest purchase was the 12 piece ABS Plastic body kit. Most of the panels look identical to the stock ones, but since they are aftermarket they were advertised as a kit. So I will refer to them as the "kit." The panels came in a beautiful satin black with stock decals already installed. I laid them out in my living room then went to bed. When I woke up, Tricia's cat, had walked all over each one of them and scratched them. I had also walked out in the middle of the night and had stepped on the lower right side panel, cracking it. I was asleep and had forgotten I had laid them out. I laugh about it now but it was a bugger at the time.
In the end I repainted all of the panels satin black and applied all of my own custom decals. I also installed painted mesh grills behind all of the vents, grinding out the inner plastic. I then installed 16 strings of hidden multi-function LED neon lights throughout the bike. It lights up like a Christmas tree.. literally!! I graduated high-school the same year Fast&Furious came out so I built an Eclipse w a body kit. Paint, rims, lowering springs, neon lights.. yes neon lights.. because they are cool. They were then, and they are now.. SO BACK OFF!!
On the face of the bike, I wanted to do something completely original. So I took the front face piece that came with the body kit and reshaped it to add a completely new shape to the headlights. I wanted them to be tiny and clean. I new that if I didn't focus on everything looking "factory," which appears to look like something the factory could have built, that the bike would end up looking shit.
<<ILL BE BACK LATER TO CONTINUE THE STORY. I APPRECIATE YOU READING MY STORY AND ENJOY YOUR FEEDBACK. KEEP IT RUBBER SIDE DOWN GUYS..>>
