One more time....

Mama has said I can go play for a few hours Sunday, before surgery Monday.

Looking to make my tank or two lap of the Northern Neck, on the back country roads with which I am familiar.... I believe Port Royal is a good meeting point, at the intersection of Hwy 17, and Hwy 301. There's a diner called Horten's at the only traffic light in town.

If anyone cares to join in, I'll be there at 8 a.m., Departing about 815. Most of my routes run to ridge top roads, or riverbanks. I will probably ride both sides of the Rapahanock river, between Port Royal, and Tappahanock.

My daughter and her family surprised me this weekend. They'll be leaving around 08:30 or 9. I could be up there by 10:00 if you were going a little later.

Jim,

I wish I could. Too much else going on to change the window. The heat is going to be an issue, as well as people leaving Services along the route.

Please enjoy your time with your family. I'm hoping to pick this up in a few weeks.

I may be traveling for work over to Wallops Island after I recover from surgery. Probably a couple of weeks m-f.

Well I started out from the Horne’s restaurant and rode east on 301, just far enough to head south on a farm road to meet up with state route 2, just before Flat Iron road. 25+ miles later, across the bridge to tapahanock, then on to hay 30 westbound to Doswell.

Met Jim there, blew north on 95 to ladysmith and running ladysmith road back to bowling Green. South to Sparta rd, then onto mataponi trail rd, which feeds to newtown rd all the way back to hwy 30.

We stopped for fuel then headed west to return to Doswell..... 4 miles later watch a car get tee boned by another car in the oncoming lanes of the divided highway. Our good fortune both cars left the road onto their shoulder, and not into the median.

We came back to the scene and rendered air until the leos and ambulance arrive. Sobering up close call less than 1/10th mile in front of us.

Hope you and the bike are ok. Got to that first guy out of the car that hit the tree. Him stumbling around, covered in blood. I look back and your bike is on the ground. I didn't have a clue what happened with you.

It really does stress the importance of seeing everything while on two wheels. If she had pulled in front of a bike at that speed, likely a fatality. Right of way means nothing. But in this case, that young lady will remember her injury from this for the rest of her life. She'll never be that careless again. When I see internal body parts sticking outside, I consider that serious. I'm not sure if she felt it. And I wasn't going to be the one to tell her

For now, get you healed. I'll be here and ready when you are. If you just need to tinker on the bike before you're able to ride again. You'll always have a set of hands ready to pitch in. You are going to beat this, period.

I forgot to put down my kick stand in the rush. One of the young men assisted me putting it upright.....stopped stepped off, felt it go past where the stand should have caught it, and had to lay it down. Zero speed involved lateral or vertical. Haven't bothered to look at any new scratches. Not important enough.

Another reminder of how much muscle mass and stamina I've lost on the hormone therapy.... Caught me off guard.

Very happy to hear you made it home.

Next time you can host, lol. I'll be the away team.

Next spring, I'd like to go see the radio telescopes in Green Bank WVA.

Been as far as Charlottesville, multiple times. Seems criminal not to wander that little bit further.

Wish you the best tomorrow, will lift you up. One of my best rides on my CBR600RR was the day before I had open heart surgery for valve replacement. Six+ years later and doing great, wishing the same for you.
